The ceiling was reconstructed from the "bloody ceilings" of Fushimi-jo (Fushimi Castle). Tori Mototada and his vassals were forced to commit suicide resulting in bloodied ceilings and floorboards.
There is a famous "picture frame garden" which is home to to a 700 year old Japanese White Pine.
